Right from the beginning the main focus was on computer maintenance and cleaning, the first program was a freeware tool called RegCleaner which was one of the first registry cleaner applications in the World and the very first software uninstaller. There was still a need for more features, therefore in 2001 the development of a full Windows cleaning and tuneup suite started. Originally called "Project X" the lightweight utility suite later became known as "jv16 PowerTools". The name originates from the developer's initials Jouni Vuorio and 16 was the age he started to develop RegCleaner (to which jv16 PowerTools was much based on). The jv16 PowerTools project also started as freeware. Macecraft Software (Macecraft Inc.) was officially established in 2003 when the author converted jv16 PowerTools to shareware and continued the development as work instead of just a hobby.
